This Week in MBB

Band Camp - Week 3!

It's the final stretch...welcome to Week 3 of Band Camp! Rehearsals will run 8:30am to 8:30pm from Monday through Thursday this week.

Please remember dessert donations this week! Store-bought, bakery or homemade items are all acceptable. All items can be dropped off to the band storage room in the morning, or to the cafeteria after 2:30pm. If you have a student with an allergy, and wish to donate allergy-safe items, please label them clearly.

Please follow the schedule below:
  • Monday 7/29: Freshmen bring desserts.
  • Tuesday 7/30: Sophomores bring desserts.
  • Wednesday 7/31: Juniors bring desserts.
  • Thursday 8/1: Seniors bring desserts.

Parent Preview Show / Booster Fair

Join the Marching Band as they present their Parent Preview Show, the grand finale of three long weeks of Band Camp! Performance starts at 7pm in the stadium.

Before the show, tailgate with the Band Boosters starting at 6pm! Meet new band families, reconnect with friends, buy some spirit wear, and sign up to volunteer on a Boosters committee!

End of Camp Party

We will celebrate the end of Band Camp on Thursday 8/1 from 9pm to midnight at Miami Hills Swim and Tennis Club, right after the Parent Preview Show.

Each student MUST bring a signed waiver to Miami Hills on the night of party. Download the waiver here.

Freshmen / Seniors –
Please bring soda/juice to share.
Sophomores / Juniors –
Please bring bagged snack or baked good to share.

StreetEats Miami

Don't forget about StreetEats Miami, coming up just a couple days after the close of Band Camp on Saturday 8/3! This food truck and music festival will be hosted by the Milford-Miami Township Chamber of Commerce at Eastside Christian Church from 3-10pm. Check out the band’s performance to kick things off on the music stage at 3:15pm!

Band members and Band Boosters will staff several volunteer shifts during the weekend, and the Boosters will also staff a booth to sell spirit wear and pass along information. Dr. Dailey is recruiting student band members to work the volunteer shifts, and the Boosters are recruiting adult volunteers to assist with each shift. If you can help, please sign up at the links below.

Volunteers Still Needed!!!

The Boosters' volunteer goal is to have every parent volunteer two times or more during Marching Band season (July - November). We still need help in the following areas--please look through the volunteer opportunities listed below and use the SignupGenius links to let us know where you can assist.

Band Camp Chaperones

July 22 - Aug 1
Assist marchers during camp and breaks, and help with lunches. We especially need help on Wed July 31.

Help the Boosters staff volunteer shifts at this food truck and music festival, featuring a performance by the Marching Band! Band Boosters will receive a $1500 donation in appreciation for our volunteer work.

Senior Corner

Attention Senior Parents:
  • On Monday 7/29, please plan for a meeting at 7pm. We need to review activities for Senior Night on 7/31 (we will need chaperones), We also need to discuss Senior Night at the stadium, the senior trip, senior parties, banners and more.

Also, we need to find senior parent hosts for this season's band parties. Hosts provide the main course and then ask for specific donations for the evening. Please check your calendar for the dates that still need hosts (Aug 30, Sep 13, and Oct 4). If you are available to host one of the dates, please contact Julie Ford ([email protected]) to let her know how many chaperones you will need and what donations you are requesting. Julie will manage the sign-up for donations.

DCI Tickets

If you ordered DCI tickets, they will be available for pickup at the Booster Fair prior to the Parent Preview Show on Thursday 8/1. See Julie at the Guard booth to pick up your tickets. Limited tickets are still available ($45 admission, $15 for bus).

The bus will leave the band parking lot on Saturday 8/10 at 2pm. Anyone who is not a current band member needs to bring a completed Emergency Medical Form. As in past years, the bus will make a quick dinner stop at the Post Road McDonalds before arriving at the stadium. The bus will return to the High School around 2am.

Guard Corner

Color Guard members, please make note of the following:
  • All orders for makeup, gloves, and shoes should be turned in to Drew or Julie no later than Monday 8/5.
  • Any Color Guard members who need to purchase a jacket, track pants or a duffle should order online at https://stores.inksoft.com/mcg2019.

Booster Odds and Ends

2019/20 Meeting Schedule

Band Boosters meetings for the 2019-2020 school year will be held on the 4th Tuesday of each month (except for July and December). All meetings start at 7pm in the Milford High School Band Room. Attendance is open to anyone, and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

Upcoming meetings are scheduled for August 27, September 24, October 22, November 26, January 28, February 25, March 24, April 28, May 26, and June 23.

Membership

It isn’t too late to join the Milford Band Boosters! Membership is only $10 per family and comes with a photo button of your favorite band member(s). There are two ways to join--
  • Complete the registration form and drop it off (with payment) to the black Boosters mailbox in the directors' office. (Download the form here.)
  • Stop by the Membership table at the Parent Preview Show on Thursday 8/1.
