Winter Guard

During the winter, the Color Guard transitions to Winter Guard, performing indoor shows to recorded music. The Milford Winter Guard program has grown from 17 students to over 70 students in the Varsity, Junior Varsity, Junior High and Elementary groups. The program provides performance opportunities for Milford students in grades 4-12.

Varsity Winter Guard

Our varsity group primarily consists of upperclassmen or those with extensive color guard experience. The group competes in the Tri State Marching Arts circuit, the MidEast Performance Association, and at regional and national events organized by Winter Guard International (WGI). In 2017 Varsity placed 8th in Scholastic Open class at WGI World Championships and won both the WGI Mid-South Regional and WGI Indianapolis Regional. In 2016 Varsity was a Scholastic A class finalist at WGI World Championships. In 2011 Varsity was the WGI Scholastic A class Bronze medalists. Auditions are held in late November. The season runs through early April. Practices are generally held evenings and weekends.

Junior Varsity Winter Guard

The JV Winter Guard consists of younger students. The group competes at local competitions in the Tri State Marching Arts circuit and the MidEast Performance Association. Auditions are held in late November. The season runs through late March. Practices are generally held after school and weekends.

Junior High Winter Guard

The JR High Winter Guard consists of students in grades 7 and 8. This group trains and prepares students to transition to the high school color guard. The group competes at local competitions in the Tri State Marching Arts circuit. Practices begin in early December. The season runs through late March.

Elementary School Winter Guard

Our Elementary Winter Guard consists of students in grades 4, 5 and 6. This group introduces students and parents to the winter guard activity. This group practices one night a week beginning in January ending with an exhibition performance at the Milford Winter Guard and Drumline show in March. In years that we do not offer Elementary Guard, we will offer a mini-camp.
